2025 Media Summit: Bobsled & Skeleton

QUALIFICATION

USA Bobsled/Skeleton has established separate Bobsled and Skeleton Selection Committees, each consisting of five members including athlete representatives. These committees are responsible for selecting the IBSF World Cup and Olympic teams in accordance with the USABS Bobsled and Skeleton Selection Criteria.

For the 2025–2026 season, bobsled pilots were determined based on results from the USA Bobsled Selection Races held in spring 2025, while bobsled push athletes were chosen from performances at the USA Push Championships in fall 2025. Skeleton athletes will be selected from the results of the USA Skeleton Selection Races conducted in both spring and fall 2025.

Athletes named to the IBSF World Cup team will compete in seven IBSF World Cup events leading up to the Olympic Games. Following the final World Cup race, the Bobsled and Skeleton Selection Committees will meet in January 2026 to finalize the roster for the 2026 Olympic Team.

PREVIEW

The newly reconstructed Cortina track marks a proud moment for bobsled and skeleton in one of the most iconic winter destinations in the world. USABS recognizes the dedication and collaboration shown by the Italian organizers in creating a world-class venue that is fast, fair, safe and sustainable. This investment will not only elevate the upcoming Games but also strengthen the global future of bobsled and skeleton.

USABS recently named its World Cup team for the 2025-2026 season. While the IBSF World Cup circuit, considered the highest level of annual international bobsled and skeleton racing, takes place every winter, this year carries added significance with the highly anticipated 2026 Winter Olympics just months away in February.

The 2026 U.S. Olympic Bobsled Team will be named on January 19, 2026. Athletes selected to the Olympic team will be primarily from this World Cup roster, making the team selection a critical step on the road to the Games. Changes to the World Cup team have the potential to be made when the Selection Committee reviews the team at the midpoint of the season in December.

Three women’s pilots and three men’s pilots were named to the team. Six women’s push athletes, or “brakewomen”, and twelve men’s push athletes, or “brakemen”, were also selected. The athletes named to the 2025–26 Team USA World Cup roster are listed below in alphabetical order by subsection:
