Team USA High Performance Pathways

  • Grassroots Pathway
  • Collegiate Pathway
  • Paralympic Pathways

The USOPC High Performance Pathways team supports the NGB community to construct and implement strategies to safeguard and strengthen the most critical partners/systems supporting athlete and/or coach advancement through the Team USA high performance pathway.

The three primary pathways areas of focus include:

  • Grassroots Pathways

Grassroots Pathways is where the USOPC's commitment to positive, developmentally appropriate sport begins. We work with National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to integrate best practices - like the American Development Model and Quality Coaching and Parenting resources - into programs that reach coaches, parents, and administrators across the country. Beyond our work with NGBs, we also partner with key leaders in grassroots sport - like Nike and the Aspen Institute - through initiatives like How to Coach Kids and as a member of Project Play’s 63x30 Executive Roundtable. Together, we support national efforts to build a healthier, more informed, and inclusive future for grassroots.

  • Collegiate Pathways

Collegiate Pathways supports NGBs, schools, conferences, and institutions across the collegiate system (NCAA, NAIA, collegiate club and adaptive programs) to protect, optimize and strengthen the collegiate pathway to Team USA.

  • Paralympic Pathways

Paralympic sport development supports the nationwide athlete identification and development strategy that introduces Americans with Paralympic eligible impairments to Paralympic sport and leads them into the athlete pipeline for the U.S. Paralympic Team.
