2025 Media Summit: Cross Country Skiing

QUALIFICATION

Results from the FIS World Cup, starting Nov. 28 to Jan. 18, are used to qualify athletes to Team USA. In that same window, athletes can qualify to Team USA through their results at domestic SuperTour events and National Championship events.

PREVIEW

The athletes representing Team USA for cross country are among the strongest in recent history. Jessie Diggins, a three-time Olympic medalist and the most decorated American XC in history, looks to compete in every event at the Games.

Julia Kern and Diggins aim to achieve what they've done at the last two World Championships: win a medal in the Team Sprint, the historic event the USA took home an Olympic gold medal in, in 2018.

For the men, the team going to Milano Cortina will be one of the strongest men's teams in history, with medal potential from several athletes, including World Cup winner Gus Schumacher and one of the fastest sprinters in U.S. history, Ben Ogden.

With the success that the U.S. athletes have had in the last several years, it's not if they'll win multiple Olympic medals, it's when.
