Paralympian Muffy Davis Re-elected as Member At-Large to IPC Governing Board

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – Seven-time Paralympic medalist Muffy Davis was elected to her second consecutive term on the International Paralympic Committee Governing Board at the 20th IPC General Assembly which was held virtually on Dec. 11-12. Davis was nominated by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), acting in its capacity as the National Paralympic Committee for the U.S.
“We are thrilled to see Muffy re-elected to the IPC Governing Board,” said Julie Dussliere, chief of Paralympic sport. “With Paralympic awareness and momentum at the forefront, both in the U.S. and globally, there was no better leader to serve in this role.”
Three-time Paralympian Davis, who competed for Team USA in Para alpine skiing and Para-cycling, won her seat as one of 10 at-large positions out of a pool of 24 candidates (with one member standing for two positions). Davis was first elected to the IPC Governing Board during the IPC General Assembly in 2017. The voting members consisted of all IPC members in good standing which includes National Paralympic Committees, International Sport Federations, International Organizations of Sport for the Disabled (IOSDs) and Regional Organizations.
“I am extremely honored to be elected to the IPC Governing Board for a second time,” Davis said. “It has been one of the greatest honors of my career to serve in such an important role and I look forward to continuing our important work as we advance the Paralympic Movement worldwide.”
Davis’s candidacy was based on three priorities for the Paralympic Movement, including: ensuring transparency and feedback opportunities to IPC members, successful completion and implementation of the IPC Governance Review and generating greater exposure and infrastructure for Para sport worldwide.
A champion for the Paralympic Movement and long-time advocate for inclusivity and disability rights, Davis also currently serves on the USOPC Paralympic Advisory Council, IOC Legacy and Sustainability Commission, LA2028 Executive Committee, UCI Para-cycling Commission and the USOPC Board of Directors. In addition, Davis will begin her work as the Blaine County commissioner in her home state of Idaho in January 2022.
The IPC Governing Board is composed of 14 members, 12 of which are elected at the General Assembly. Members are elected every four years and can serve a maximum of three terms. The Governing Board is responsible for implementing the policies and directions set by the General Assembly as well as works to approve budgets and audited accounts, IPC rules and regulations, membership of IPC Committees and the Paralympic Games.
