Team USA Alumni Chapter Policies
Policies and Procedures#
The USOPC Code of Conduct applies to USOPC Board of Directors and Committees, USOPC staff, NGBs, and volunteers - including our Team USA Alumni Chapter Leaders.
The purpose of the USOPC Code of Conduct policy is to define the tenets by which the people who work for or on behalf of the USOPC and NGBs conduct themselves consistently with the USOPC's mission and core values.
The USOPC Conflict of Interest supports a culture of strong ethical conduct, protects the integrity of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), and ensures that decisions made by individuals affiliated with the USOPC are made in the USOPC’s best interests. The Conflict of Interest Policy defines conflicts of interest and the process by which conflicts of interest are disclosed, reviewed, and ultimately managed.
The USOPC Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption policy applies to USOPC Board of Directors and Committees, USOPC staff, NGBs, and volunteers - including our Team USA Alumni Chapter Leaders.
The purpose of the USOPC Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption policy is to support a culture of strong ethical conduct and protect the integrity of the USOPC and the broader Olympic and Paralympic movements. The policy defines bribery and the anti-corruption principles all individuals affiliated with USOPC must follow and provides guidance to assist in identifying and reporting instances of bribery and corruption.

The USOPC Compliance Investigations Procedure applies to USOPC Board of Directors and Committees, USOPC staff, NGBs, and volunteers - including our Team USA Alumni Chapter Leaders.
The purpose of the USOPC Compliance Investigations Procedure is to outline procedures for reviewing reports of alleged non-compliance with the Ted Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act (the Ted Stevens Act), USOPC and NGB bylaws, policies, and procedures, and any other applicable laws or regulations.

Administrative Status
The USOPC Alumni Relations department should both have usernames and passwords and/or administrative (“admin”) access to Team USA Alumni Chapter social media accounts. More than one Chapter representative should have access to accounts, and Chapter leadership should review admin access on social media accounts quarterly to ensure that information remains current. During times of transition amongst Chapter Leaders, the USOPC Alumni Relations department is available to help moderate social media activity.
The social media accounts you establish on behalf of USOPC Alumni Relations are property of the USOPC. If you forfeit your Chapter duties, please take steps to relinquish admin rights to your liaison at in the USOPC Alumni Relations department.
Before you exercise admin rights on any social media platform, read the “Terms of Service” agreement.
Identification
In the bio or “About” section of any Team USA Alumni Chapter social media pages, identify who you are and your relationship to the USOPC and its USOPC Alumni Relations department. Always be transparent and disclose relationships. If you post on your personal profile and mention the USOPC, the Alumni Relations department, or your Chapter, be sure to mention your volunteer status as a Chapter Leader.
Personal or Organizational Accounts
Several guidelines apply if you are participating in or running a social media account for yourself or an organization (such as a Team USA Alumni Chapter) that may reference the USOPC.
Do not post on behalf of or represent yourself as a spokesperson for the USOPC or a Team USA Alumni Chapter. If Chapter Leaders choose to post about issues relating to the USOPC or an Alumni Chapter, they should make it clear that they are stating their personal views and are not expressing the formal position of the USOPC or Alumni Chapter. Use a disclaimer such as: “The postings on this site are my own and do not necessarily represent the positions, strategies, or opinions of the USOPC or the Team USA Alumni Community.”
Use good judgment regarding content. Do not relay confidential information or information about a USOPC employee, Team USA athlete, coach, or alumnus. Remember, you may be held personally responsible for such content.
Do not use the USOPC logo on a personal website. Respect the Team USA brand, trademark, copyright, etc.
Copyright and Compliance
Be mindful of the copyright and intellectual property rights of others and of the USOPC. Follow copyright and compliance laws and guidelines when applicable, and do not use copyrighted images, text, or software without permission or in violation of the copyright laws of the United States. It is acceptable to use the Facebook sharing or Twitter retweet functions to share content.
Do not violate terms of applicable software licensing agreements.
