Testimonials

I’m honored to have been selected as an athlete ambassador for the 2016 Team for Tomorrow program and am thrilled to be visiting Girls Inc. in my hometown of Costa Mesa.  Beyond competing in the Games, something I really look forward to is to giving back to the community whenever I can. Team for Tomorrow has given my fellow ambassadors and I the opportunity to spread awareness about the importance of being active and living healthy, while also having some fun!

Two-time Olympic medalist (1 silver, 1 bronze)
My Team for Tomorrow experiences were amazing. All the kids loved sports, asked great questions, and shared their dreams. It is important for me to give back to my community because I hope it inspires a kid to follow their childhood dream like I followed mine.

Team for Tomorrow brings to life the idea that you become a better person when you inspire others. I’m proud to join this initiative, and believe it’s a great privilege to share my story and the Olympic Values with America’s youth, especially in communities that have invested in helping me achieve my dreams.

The greatest thing about winning an Olympic medal or attending the Olympics is that it gives you a platform to give back. In order to get to the Olympics, there's so many people who help you along the way. It's awesome to be a part of Team for Tomorrow where we have the opportunity to give back to the community and help inspire and encourage children to dream big- and go after their dreams. Not only is being a part of Team for Tomorrow an honor- it's a lot of fun!

Having a group of passionate, inspiring athletes working together to give back to our communities all across the country and inspire and motivate others to do so is extremely powerful. We have an important message to share, and a responsibility to educate those around us. It is rewarding to make a difference in the lives of others, and I couldn’t be more excited to be involved with a program like Team for Tomorrow.

I decided to get involved with Team for Tomorrow because it provides an opportunity to give back. At one point or another, we all need a helping hand, and this program provides a platform for Olympians and Paralympians to represent Team USA at the local level where we can interact with members of the communities in which we live.

Giving back to the community is an important part of being an Olympian because you truly get to impact others. Whenever I work with young people, I leave smiling. Their passion for soccer and for life is infectious, and I am proud to say that even though I am the one showing them soccer drills, I learn from them as well. Team for Tomorrow helped me create an ongoing relationship with the Wang YMCA in Boston where I’ve visited several times to tell my story and encourage young athletes to live their dreams.
