Community Growth
2024 ushered in a new wave of energy and visibility for Team USA. The community came together to root for those in red, white and blue at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, drawing personal connections to Team USA athletes like never before. The unparalleled energy was thanks in part to a first-of-its-kind campaign, One For All, which put athletes first and invited America to get to know them not just as competitors, but as individuals. From viral social moments to headline-grabbing pop culture appearances earning millions of media impressions, One for All bridged the gap between athlete and fan, elevating stories of grit, personality and purpose.
That visibility translated into powerful moments across sports and culture. One example was the Team USA Creator Collective, which brought athletes, super fans and influencers to the Games for the first time to reach new and younger audiences. Paralympic wheelchair rugby co-captain Chuck Aoki, one of the Creators, inspired nationwide engagement with his humor and behind-the-scenes videos from Paris, offering fans a fresh look at the events from a Paralympian’s perspective. Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik was transformed into a viral meme and given the title of his generation’s Clark Kent, then brought that charisma to primetime with a standout turn on “Dancing with the Stars” that connected with fans far beyond the gym. Olympic sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson dominated the track, igniting global conversation with her signature style and record-breaking 100-meter run.
This growing connection between fans and athletes underscored the power of sport to unite, inspire and expand the Movement. With a record year in fundraising and a new fundraising campaign, an energized next generation of supporters and momentum building toward Los Angeles 2028 and the return of the Winter Games to U.S. soil with Salt Lake City 2034, the past year became more than a milestone – it was a launchpad. Together, the USOPC and U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Foundation helped amplify athlete voices and bring the Olympic and Paralympic spirit into homes and hearts across the country.
“Experiencing the Games again as an athlete and with my team has been the dream of a lifetime. On top of that, being part of the new Creator Collective dedicated to doing something else I am passionate about – creating content, raising disability visibility and engaging with fans new and old has been so impactful. It’s amazing to see the new audiences and supporters we are reaching, and I’m proud to be part of growing our communities through efforts both on and off the court.”
