  • 2024 marked the beginning of a bold new chapter for Team USA: the Decade of Sport. Over the next 10 years, the United States will take center stage – not once, but twice – as host and as global leader, fueling national pride, expanding opportunity and leaving a legacy that extends far beyond the podium. Sparked by the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, this new era is defined not just by performance, but also by advancing excellence in sport at every level and field.

America rallied behind Team USA in Paris, where Paralympic and Olympic track and field medalists and husband and wife Hunter Woodhall and Tara Davis-Woodhall competed in respective Games, showing the world a vision of inclusion in action. Their shared experience at Paris 2024 took the internet by storm. It wasn’t just personal – it symbolized a broader Movement uniting fans, breaking silos and redefining what it means to represent Team USA.

Several months later, the couple, joined by hundreds of teammates, learned U.S. Paralympics Track & Field would be integrated into USA Track & Field. The USOPC played a central role in facilitating the transition and will continue to work closely with both programs to ensure a smooth integration and long-term sustainability. The move underscored the USOPC’s commitment to building a more unified, inclusive organization that reflects the collective strength of Team USA on the global stage.

Beyond the integration of teams, 2024 saw transformational change across the sport ecosystem. Through a new unified resource allocation process for NGBs, the USOPC improved transparency, streamlined funding decisions and created stronger conditions for continued success. These changes are bold steps forward on the path to Milan-Cortina 2026, Los Angeles 2028 and beyond.

"This change means so much to me and to the entire Para Track & Field community. Becoming part of one team with USA Track & Field is the right next step for Paralympic Track & Field and for Team USA, and it’s incredibly exciting to see the investment, dedication and future we’re building together."

In 2024, the USOPC advanced its long-term vision of a more unified and inclusive sport system by driving key transitions for Paralympic athletes. U.S. Paralympics Track & Field formally integrated into USA Track & Field, creating a stronger, more streamlined pathway for athlete development and success. Para Powerlifting transitioned to Lakeshore National Adapted Sports Organization and U.S. Para Skiing completed its first full year under U.S. Ski & Snowboard – fostering deeper opportunities for training and resource collaboration. These milestones reflect the USOPC’s commitment to building a more inclusive, athlete-centered sport ecosystem.
