Leadership Message
2024 marked a new era for the USOPC: the Decade of Sport. Over the next 10 years, the United States will welcome the world for the 2028 Games in Los Angeles and the 2034 Winter Games in Salt Lake City. These defining moments will bring us together to grow our love of sport, inspire new generations and build a legacy that extends far beyond the podium.
This era is defined not only by performance, but by the pursuit of excellence at every level, in every community, for every athlete. The momentous energy of 2024 reignited the spark of the Movement and reminded the nation why sport matters and how unifying it is to cheer on Team USA.
The Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 highlighted that power. With 231 medals across both Games, Team USA reaffirmed its commitment to excellence and integrity – elevating awe-inspiring talent and demonstrating the strength of a system built to support every athlete’s journey. Breakthrough performances defined the Games: USA Artistic Swimming returned to the podium after two decades, Women’s USA Rugby captured a long-awaited bronze and US Para-Equestrian Dressage athletes delivered the highest medal percentage of any Team USA sport. And these are just a few of the countless historic moments we celebrate.
Athlete Excellence was on full display in the lead up to and in Paris. We stood wholeheartedly behind Team USA through training, trials and competition with increased support ranging from expanded psychological health services and the new Team USA Family Fund to elevated education and career tools like Guild and Agora.
Sport Advancement took bold steps forward. Greater integration of our broader sport system, such as bringing U.S. Paralympics Track & Field into USA Track & Field, marked a new level of inclusion and organizational unity. A more transparent resource allocation process improved clarity around how support flows to National Governing Bodies (NGBs). And while we advanced a unified approach to team selection, athlete feedback continues to guide efforts to improve consistency, communication and fairness.
Community Growth surged with unprecedented momentum. The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Foundation had another record year, raising $85 million to advance athlete services and publicly launching the comprehensive fundraising effort, One for All: The Campaign for Team USA, to support long-term impact. Fan engagement reached new heights, and Salt Lake City-Utah was named host of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2034 following years of preparation and partnership. New platforms delivered immersive fan experiences, while behind-the-scenes social content brought the Games to life through athletes and influencers – introducing the next generation to the Movement. American leadership strengthened on the global stage with four Americans now on the International Olympic Committee, including Olympic legend Allyson Felix.
With the momentum of 2024, we forge our path ahead with renewed excitement and energy. The legacy of American excellence in sport will endure through Milan-Cortina 2026, Los Angeles 2028 and beyond. None of this would be possible without our Team USA community – the athletes, families, coaches, NGBs, sponsors, donors, staff and volunteers who fuel the Movement. Their passion and partnership made 2024 a catalyst, sparking momentum that will carry the Movement forward for the next decade and beyond.
This Impact Report is a celebration of what we’ve built together and a promise of what’s next. The spark has reignited. The Movement is in motion. And we’re just getting started.
