  • Behind Team USA, there is another team of USOPC professionals committed to keeping the organization functioning at the highest level. The USOPC “Team Behind the Team” is connected by a deep love of sport, fueling the organization toward its mission every day. In 2024, the USOPC deepened its investment in its people by elevating staff development and employee engagement. Team members had more opportunities to grow in their careers while making a meaningful impact on athletes. Whether orchestrating complex logistics for competition, advancing biometric technology for training or standing alongside athletes during trial and triumph, USOPC staff underscored how work behind the scenes is essential to success on a global stage. Each team member played a valuable role in driving impact across the organization.

As part of their commitment to transparency and inclusion, the USOPC and NGBs released their 2024 Demographic Data Reports, offering a clear snapshot of representation across staff, leadership and boards. The report is a tool for progress, helping the Movement understand how to best reflect the diversity of the athletes it serves.

Employee Engagement#

  • The passion of the USOPC’s Team Behind the Team is a powerful force, one that fuels the success of Team USA. From the front lines in Paris to stateside support, employees shared a deep sense of pride in their work. Through new programming, clear values and open dialogue, the USOPC advanced its commitment to not only being a great place to work, but also a great place to grow through experiences, opportunities and education for USOPC team members.

Employee Engagement

  • All in for Paris 2024

In Paris and back on home turf, 1,065 USOPC staff, contractors and volunteers drove a seamless Games experience. Teams of 600+ for the Olympics and 300+ for the Paralympics ensured athletes had support to stay focused and perform their best.

  • Community Resource Groups

The USOPC’s Community Resource Groups (CRGs) continued to grow as spaces for connection across the Movement. With a total of 370 members – 184 from NGBs – the USOPC’s five CRGs welcomed 160 new participants and strengthened operations by integrating with Monday.com. Staff engagement remained high through social events, tabling at All Staff meetings and curated Home Team Happenings, which included watch parties and community-building activities.

  • Professional Development

In 2024, the USOPC deepened its investment in staff development through programs designed to strengthen leadership and collaboration across the Movement. The Own Your Impact course, led by Tuck Executive Education at Dartmouth, welcomed 57 participants in its winter session including 30 USOPC staff, and for the first time, opened registration to colleagues from the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum and U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. The broader Impact Academy offered practical, high-impact learning experiences for USOPC, NGB and LA28 employees as well as athlete participants. By building skills and networks across the ecosystem, these programs help USOPC team members advance their careers.
